Job Description : The San Diego County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors has a current opening for
BOARD ASSISTANT
Board Assistants work in the department of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors and handle a high volume of customer interactions, respond to queries by elected officials, County staff, the public and media. Board Assistants use a variety of automation systems and perform a variety of office duties, such as typing, filing, and distributing documents. Board Assistants must exercise independent judgment and must maintain a working knowledge of current relevant laws, regulations, and procedures as well as the ability to properly apply them.
Under general supervision, incumbents coordinate and perform tasks of moderate difficulty, which require independent judgment, and a working knowledge of codes, rules and procedures pertaining to the unit and hearing boards; process and maintain Board records and files; provide County government related information to the Board of Supervisors, County employees, other governmental agencies, and the public.
Board Assistants must adhere to the highest standards of customer service, timeliness, productivity and accuracy in their work.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong teamwork, collaboration and communication skills. Success in this position requires follow through on commitments, personal accountability, and the ability to effectively manage pressure from deadlines and customers. The interviews for this position will begin on April 25, 2022.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of office experience, processing and maintaining records and files, handling high volume phone and counter contact, and using various automation systems.
Note: An associate’s degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for the experience listed above.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be a U.S. citizen to serve as a U.S. Passport Agent. Some positions may be required to perform notary services. Any expenses associated with performing notary services for the County will be incurred by the County of San Diego.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
Employees hired on or after October 15, 2021, are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning employment. If you receive a conditional offer of employment, a copy of your vaccination card must be provided at the time of background.
Current County employees hired on or before October 14, 2021, are required to provide a copy of their vaccine card showing they are fully vaccinated, or undergo Covid-19 diagnostic testing and wear a facemask in the workplace.
Employees who work at County locations subject to the California Department of Public Health State Public Health Officer order are required to be fully vaccinated. In addition, booster-eligible employees must receive their booster by March 1, 2022, or within 15 days of becoming eligible for a booster if they are not eligible as of March 1, 2022. If there are CDPH date changes for Booster compliance, employees must come into compliance in accordance with that date.
EVALUATION
Qualified applicants will be placed on a
six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation contained on their employment and supplemental applications. Please ensure all information is complete and accurate as the responses you provide on the supplemental application questionnaire will be reviewed using an automated evaluation system. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
