Job Description : Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical and technical functions to include patient care. TheCertified Medical Assistant will assist clinic leadership in all aspects of patient flow while maintaining a high quality of patient care in a compassionate manner.
Duties and Essential Job Functions: 1. Performs complete data collection of patient and other various duties and direct care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.2. Completes documentation, meet current standards along with policies and procedures including documentation of all mandatory forms within the scope of the position.3. Participates in quality improvement activities.4. Assists with scheduling appointments.5. Assists in preparing and maintaining clinic readiness including but not limited to maintaining neat, orderly and supplied exam rooms and sets up for procedures as indicated.6. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

Required Licensure/Certification:

Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).

Preferred Education and Experience:

1 year experience practice setting or a hospital based clinic setting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of chronic conditions, medical and disease processes.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology and equipment.
Knowledge of the skills necessary to provide care of service appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned units.
Skill in key boarding and data entry.
Skill in clinical data collection.
Skill in meeting/exceeding customer expectations.
Ability to make decisions, problem solve, and grasp new ideas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of computerHearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person – to –person and to perform assessments such as obtaining blood pressure, cardiac or breathe sounds.Clear concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction.Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.Manual and tactile dexterity for palpation, use of computer keyboard/typing, writing, handling/ sorting objects and forms.Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting and moving objects and equipment (approximately 25lbs. or more with assistance), sitting.Able to meet physical demands of the job with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations.
Work Environment:

Work is indoors and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours, and /or overtime hours, and/or occasional weekend hours on short notice.
Local travel to duties may be performed at multiple sites.
Exposure to environment temperature changes, hazardous/noxious fumes, fetid smells, air/blood borne pathogens such as HIV, Hep. B, TB, and other contagious diseases.
Environment is noisy, involves frequent interruptions or distractions.
Duties subject to stressful pressures and deadlines.
Wearing of uniform or a specific style/type of clothing and jewelry/accessories limitations or restriction may be required.
