Job Description : Overview
Comcast Spectacor (Philadelphia Flyers, Wells Fargo Center, etc.) is hiring a Communications Manager to join a fast-paced communications department supporting the Philadelphia Flyers, Wells Fargo Center, and other Comcast Spectacor properties.
This person will be responsible for working with media on a day-to-day basis and developing strategic communications plans for high-profile, major initiatives from the Flyers, Wells Fargo Center, and more.
This position calls for an experienced and proactive communications professional who can deliver consistent earned, owned, and shared media success. This individual will be the primary media contact for concerts, shows and special events at Wells Fargo Center and all live events produced by Spectacor Events & Entertainment. The position will also play a key role for Philadelphia Flyers community relations programs, fan engagement, and other off-ice initiatives.

The ideal candidate should have a record of building strong relationships with local media, preferably in the Philadelphia region. They should have exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills and experience working closely with media. We are looking for a proven collaborator with ability to lead projects across multiple departments. The candidate should have a solution-oriented mindset, positive work outlook, and high energy with an ability to anticipate needs around internal and external messaging.
The role will hold traditional business hours, but will also be responsible for attending and supporting concerts, select Flyers games, and additional events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, national, and industry media partners, news outlets, personalities, producers, and influencers.
Develop, execute and assist in crafting earned-media focused communications strategy around live events at Wells Fargo Center including concerts, family shows, live sporting events; experiences by Spectacor Events & Entertainment; off-ice news for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Write press releases and advisories for a variety of news generators including but not limited to:
News regarding Wells Fargo Center
Flyers community outreach initiatives
Flyers corporate partnerships
Flyers marketing promotions and theme nights
Build strong relationships and work closely with tour promoters and artist managers to drive earned media supporting tickets sales and position Wells Fargo Center among the world’s top entertainment venues
Coordinate, communicate and manage event-day media coverage in collaboration with building operations, tour promoters and artist Managers.
Manage concert media credential requests and onsite management of photographers
Oversee digital content creation including video, photo and social for media distribution at events and for announcements
Creates long-term publicity plans for Spectacor Events & Entertainment experiences from announcement, to on-sale, to event execution, to post-event evaluation.
Plans and executes media preview events
Generate detailed earned-media and social media recaps following publicity campaigns for internal distribution and partner evaluation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or comparable discipline.
4-6 years’ experience in public relations or communications, preferably in from agency, marketing/PR firm or sports and entertainment entity.
Proven experience in developing strategic, consistent, and creative messaging and ability to develop a wide range of communication and marketing materials.
History of building strong relationships with sports, entertainment and business reporters and key influencers, preferably in the Philadelphia market.
Experience working with executives and talent a plus.
Superior written communications skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Solid understanding of the digital and social media landscape, industry trends and key players.
Comfort and familiarity with a fast-paced news environment.
Proven collaborator with ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional groups.
Highly organized with excellent project management skills. Must be able to adapt to changes in project scope and timelines, and make adjustments as needed.
Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Outlook; proficiency in Adobe design programs a plus.
