Job Description:
The Community and Classroom Technician (CCT) is a one-to-one teaching assistant position working with emerging young adults 9th grade through transition age (22 years) with communication and behavior challenges such commonly associated with autism spectrum disorder. This is a part-time position that offers a multifaced pathway to becoming a full-time employee.
This position is so unique because not only do you work with our students in the classroom settings but also out in a variety of fun exciting community location!
The CCT is trained on principals of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as well as on how to support student functional academics needed for the transition to adulthood Training is ongoing on each students academic programs, adaptive social behavior development, behavior support plans, and socially accepted community behaviors, as well as vocational or post-secondary educational planning and training.
As a member of the CTA team, you will be embarking on DAILY community outings including but not limited to: volunteer/vocational opportunities, shopping, restaurant dining, physical fitness and sporting venues, visiting the zoo/aquarium/museums, and much, much more! (Transportation provided by CTA’s vans.) Our everchanging daily program has resulted in an exciting and uniquely social school environment for all students and teachers!
About CTA:
Community Transition Academy (CTA) is a small community and classroom-based, non-public transition high school (NPS) for teens and emerging young adults, currently serving a small group of 15 students. Our students have academic, language, social, and behavioral challenges most commonly associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other like disabilities.
CTA is in our 5th year of service and we are looking for passionate, collaborative, and team-oriented aides to work 1:1 with a variety of students. Our program was created and continues to be built with student growth as our main goal in addition to teacher/staff-wellness as an equal priority (e.g. low staff to student ratio, skilled and supportive leadership, collaborative, family-like atmosphere, ongoing training, opportunities for growth and advancement, engaging individualized curriculum, etc.).
We believe that all students are unique and respond differently to diverse models of teaching, so our curriculum is uniquely individual and taught both in the classroom and in the community. The program is infused with the evidence-based principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), as well as a variety of other supports that will enhance our student’s academic and community lives as we near adulthood.

Other Requirements to Consider:
Must be able to stand on your feet for at least an hour, walk, bend, squat, quickly shuffle/pivot, lift up to 65 lbs, as our Safety Care requires this to work with our students who are very active both on site and in various community settings.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
Schedule:

Monday to Friday
