Job Description : I. JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the contract custodial position is to keep the Uptown designated building and grounds clean and orderly; perform basic preventative maintenance and repairs; and set up tables for use as needed. Custodian will keep Operations Coordinator (OC) and Executive Director (ED) advised of dangers/concerns about the condition and maintenance of the buildings and grounds. The candidate must be dependable, responsible, and accountable to other staff members with whom he or she will be working.
II. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Arrive 3 times a day to clean and perform restroom checks (Monday through Friday prior to 9:30 am, one mid-day check preferably between 11:30 & 12:30 pm, and after 2:00 pm). Schedule flexibility will be permitted, but employee must be able to clean the site prior to 9:30 am each day, and thoroughly clean after 2 pm.
Maintain cleanliness of Uptown campus area during cleaning checks.
Maintain cleanliness of all bathrooms (Members, and Volunteer/Staff) and stock adequate supplies as needed. (Report abuse or damage immediately to OC and/or ED).
Sweep and mop mailroom and storage room once a week before volunteers arrive (9:30am).
Make sure all office trash is emptied and recycled in an appropriate manner daily.
Assist with unloading the monthly food bank delivery (generally the first Thursday of the month at 8 am).
Close and lock all appropriate doors before leaving. Close and lock entrances and exits as required each day and after special events.

WEEKLY

Wash down Courtyard area.
Clean doors and windows within reach.
Provide an inventory list of needed supplies to Operations Coordinator and Executive Director.
Ensure all recyclable materials are placed in proper containers for pick up.
Meet weekly for supervision with the Executive Director.

AS NEEDED

Report on safety and repair issues.
Perform needed set-up and clean-up before and after community partners events.
Other duties may be required.

IV. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The individual in this position must possess the physical and sensory ability necessary to perform all essential job functions and responsibilities safely and successfully. This includes but is not limited to; the ability to climb steps and ladders as well as to bend, pull and push, and the ability to move and carry objects.
The ability to carry and lift up to 35 lbs.
Candidates for this position must complete a required background check. The individual hired will report to the Executive Director.

HOURS & COMPENSATION

This position will start as a temporary position for the first 3 months, with the possibility of additional hours as needed.
Compensation is $600/month.
