Position : Credit Associate

Job Description : Collects past due accounts receivable, reconciles customer accounts, processes credit applications, sets up new customers in SAP, and requests and processes credit references. Provides documentation to establish credit for Valero with non-product related suppliers.
Calls customers for past due payments primarily related to product (gasoline,etc.) sales. Reconciles customer’s account to resolve discrepancies. Works with Accounting, Cash and Marketing to correct customer’s account if necessary.
Processes incoming customer credit applications and sets-up customers in SAP
Completes and processes documentation to establish credit for all Valero companies with suppliers for hotel reservations and conferences, refinery parts suppliers, and other service industries.
Works closely with Legal, Refinery personnel, and Procurement
Scan customer credit applications and other customer data, etc, scanning involves familiarity with financial and legal documents, tax forms, and electronic fund transfer forms in order to pace the scanned document(s) into the appropriate customer sub-file.
Reviews daily exposure reports and past due receivable reports.
Prepares some past due receivable reports using SAP and Excel
Initiates early electronic funds transfer drafts, which may involve consultation with supervisor, and contact with Marketing and the customer
This position is salaried nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
5 years of business-related experience required.
Experience calling past due accounts preferred.
Experience working in the refining industry operations environment preferred.
Ability to resolve/coordinate customer disputes within a limited time-frame preferred.
Ability to analyze and recognize problems and resolving the problems in a timely fashion and communicating the solution to the financial management and/or the customer preferred.
Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications preferred.
Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization prererred.
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
