Description
Job Summary
Cleans and maintains areas used by the Prekindergarten Head Start Program. Performs general cleaning tasks as needed to maintain the cleanliness of buildings and areas used by Prekindergarten Head Start personnel. Uses a variety of cleaning materials and agents to ensure areas are kept sanitary. Makes minor repairs to equipment and facilities as needed.
Essential Functions
Sweeps, scrubs, mops, cleans and waxes floors of all rooms and hallways used by Prekindergarten Head Start personnel; vacuums and cleans rugs; dusts walls, fixtures and furniture; washes walls, window sills and blackboards.
Cleans lavatories and water fountains; polishes fixtures and mirrors; washes cots, shelves and toys; replenishes lavatory supplies such as tissues, towels and soap.
Empties trash cans; secures doors and windows; replaces light bulbs; may make minor repairs to facility and equipment; reports damage to structures and equipment that require major repairs.
May move furniture and equipment; may store and distributes supplies.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
One year of experience working with Prekindergarten Head Start staff and parents as a parent.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of:
materials, methods and practices used in cleaning.

Demonstrated ability to:
lift and carry heavy containers and equipment.
perform a variety of manual tasks.
perform minor building and equipment repairs.
maintain a facility and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
follow oral and written instructions.
establish and maintain effective working relationships.
