Job Description : Summary

The data analytics associate will support business and research operations for the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery. This position is responsible for designing and generating business intelligence (BI) reports and financial analysis of research grant awards and contracts. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Director of Business Operations, Director of Research Operations, and Department Administrator on a wide range of projects to meet the goals of the Department.

This is a full-time, on-site position in the Texas Medical Center.

Job Duties

Develops and implements business intelligence reports and dashboards for tracking research award balances, account transactions, and sponsor invoicing.
Analyzes general ledger transactions for compliance.
Submits journal entries, budget revisions, purchase order requests, and forecast account requests.
Manages personnel cost and effort allocations.
Evaluates and reports corrections on financial statement reports (FSR).
Reviews spending rates of grants, contracts, and MOUs.
Develops and implements business intelligence reports and dashboards for evaluating performance across clinical and education missions (e.g. faculty evaluations).
Facilitates organizational reporting of quality data (e.g. chair goals).
Builds reports and tools for measuring departmental KPIs and performance against benchmarks.
Assists with FTE reporting changes and alignment with system data.
Creates project plans to include charters, scope, milestones and timelines for financial improvements.
Utilizes data from SAP to maintain monthly departmental reports.
Develops and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
Performs financial analysis and prepare budgets.
Performs account reconciliation and submits journal entries.
Monitors expenses and financial accounts.
Constructs and provides deliverables for special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Power BI, SAP and Excel.
Experience in data analytics and post award financial management.
