Job Description : Job Summary

The Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for the management of the staff that operate the Arlington Regional Data Center/Network Operations Center (NOC). This role manages the team in maintaining high reliability and performance of the facility while keeping operating costs at a minimum. This data center supports mission-critical systems from a variety of UT System institutions, operates 24X7X365, and must maintain better than 99.999% annual uptime.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience or associate’s degree and 10 years of related experience or high school diploma and 12 years of related experience.

3 years of experience managing direct reports.
Preferred Education and Experience

5-10 years of experience working in a data center or critical facility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee all management aspects of the data center’s staff to ensure success of the facility’s goals and mission, ensuring all work performed is high quality and without unplanned impact to internal/external customers, and customer interactions are professional and consistent
Staffing

o Scheduling (3 shifts) covering 24×7×365

o Interviewing and hiring

o On-/off-boarding staff and other HR actions

o Cultural development

Delegation

o Work assignments and seamless handoff between shifts

o Performance measurement/reporting

o Performance issue remediation

o Process and change management

o Escalation

Management

o Goal setting

o Performance appraisals

o Performance improvement planning

o Change agency

o Policy/practice enforcement

o Coaching and mentoring

Engage in improvement projects, often requiring coordination with a variety of support teams, and drive from conception to completion
Effectively contribute to operational budget management
Perform tours and presentations to “market” the services of the facility
Prepare usage reports to facilitate billing and planning processes, coordinate billing with Business Services, and resolve billing issues
Respond to ad hoc issues related to the operations of the data center and manage the process of root-cause identification, mitigation, and resolution
Additional duties as assigned

Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information

Position location will be in Fort Worth, Texas.

Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Must be located within the DFW area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.

Mandatory Testing and Daily Health Check:

In order to combat the spread of COVID-19 all UTD Faculty, Staff, and Students are required to:

Enroll in and complete a Daily Health Check each day, regardless of vaccination status.
Participate in the University’s mandatory COVID-19 testing program.

Newly hired employees will be automatically enrolled in University’s testing program. Thereafter, the University will test a sample of the UT Dallas community as part of its proactive testing program.
