Position : Dental Technician II-(SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY) Multiple Vacancies

Job Description : Position Summary:
Provides the skills necessary for the fabrication of routine dental prosthetic appliances.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Fabricates complete and partial dentures, and other artificial oral restorations for routine cases
Reviews information contained in the patient cases and checks for correctness of the application at the stage when it is received from the student. Ensures that all information and items required for routine fabrication procedures are present, and identifies any deviations from the normal practice.
Prepares teaching aids for mold fabrication and cast pouring.
Assists in instructing dental students in the fabrication of prostheses.
Makes dental casts and dies from mouth impressions made by the faculty members.
Sets up, waxes, and processes through the equilibration process, complete and removable partial dentures.
Duplicates, waxes, and transfers designs, block outs, and casts to finish the removable partial denture frameworks.
Maintains laboratory cleanliness and keeps records of materials used.
Provides work direction and guidance to personnel within department. May lead projects and activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
None.
Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by formal training in dental laboratory prosthetics.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of experience or completion of a two year vocational dental technology program.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
