The Director serves as the spokesperson and advocate of the College Counseling program and works closely with the Head of Upper School and the Head of School to determine its strategic direction.

Over 350 students yearly are challenged appropriately in their academic, co-curricular, and social/interpersonal lives, yet supported through the inevitable challenges they face by a caring and professional faculty. As we define success far more broadly than by college matriculation alone, students are encouraged and empowered to participate widely, deeply, and authentically in our programs and community, with a focus on the development of personal and collaborative skills.
Accordingly, the school seeks candidates who love working with upper-schoolers and who place students at the heart of their instructional and administrative practice.

The Director will leverage a recently completed ACCIS (Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools) 360 Review to continue to enhance the many existing strengths in program and practice, while working with the staff and broader Upper School team to address recommendations for growth. Trinity Valley School’s talented student body, supported by an excellent and professional faculty and engaged parents, has sustained record of strong and appropriate acceptances and matriculations. The Director will be the School’s expert in navigating and communicating the ever-changing college admissions landscape, while projecting professional competence born from robust experience and continual professional development. Through the constant evaluation and implementation of both accepted best practice and innovation in program, procedure, and office/team structure, the Director will model constant improvement in the service of the School and its students.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Work to ensure that each graduating student engages in a college admissions process designed and optimized to maximize access to a range of appropriate post-secondary educational opportunities

Partner with the Upper School faculty and administration to support the growth and alignment of academic cocurricular programming in ways that will distinguish the school and its students in the admissions process, while keeping student health and wellbeing as a fundamental goal
Provide for the School’s standardized testing program (PSAT/SAT, ACT, and AP) by working with the Head of Upper School to identify and assign individuals to coordinator roles
Ensure that the department functions in an efficient and cost-effective manner
Coordinate support for students with specialized college aspirations, particularly those with the opportunity to play NCAA athletics and those pursuing audition and portfolio processes
