Terms of Employment:
12 months/ 226 days per year. Salary is at Administrative Program Pay Grade AP6 on the EISD Compensation Plan on a term or probationary contract, as applicable. Annual salary range is $76,191 – $90,705 based upon directly related experience.

Primary Purpose:
The Fine Arts Director serves as the designer and orchestrator of all innovative fine arts programming in the primary areas of responsibility including:
Strategic Planning – develops and implements the organization’s Strategic Plan and annual action plans
Program Development and Management – develops, implements, and supervises programs and services that are consistent with the vision for fine arts programs in Edgewood ISD.
Fund Development, Grant Oversight and Fiscal Management –develops and manages the fundraising and financial strategies of the district.
Staff Leadership and Management – motivates and develops the professional management team; hires, supervises and evaluates staff; coordinates work with campus leaders and Senate Bill 1882 operating-partners.
Community Relations – develops effective working relationships with stakeholders to ensure that the arts are represented in the community-at-large.
Advocacy – serves as the chief spokesperson for the fine arts programming in the community; articulates and communicates the value of the arts in improving our quality of life and promotes community support of the arts.
Conducts business at the highest standard of integrity ensuring that all activities are legal and ethical.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution
Master’s Degree preferred
Texas principal or another appropriate Texas certificate preferred
Texas Teacher Certificate preferred (Elementary and Secondary Fine Arts Course of study)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of Visual and Performing Arts programs
Knowledge of broad range of curriculum and instructional strategies
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Collaborative skills
Flexibility and creativity social media and digital tools to enhance learning
Experience:
Effective delivery of fine arts instruction in at least one of the fine arts areas Leadership responsibilities in an area of the fine arts
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional/Program Management
Oversees the development and delivery of fine arts programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement
Lead the development of a nationally recognized Performing Arts PK-12 program.
Monitor and reevaluate fine arts programs on an ongoing basis using input from teachers and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments to the program where appropriate to meet student needs
Encourage and support student performances, exhibits, and other displays of student work
Ensure that the necessary time, resources, materials, and technology to support accomplishment of educational goals are available
Participate in the district-level decision-making process to establish and review the district’s goals and objectives related to instructional programs
Engage instructional staff in evaluating and selecting instructional tools and materials to meet student learning needs
Actively support the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and campus performance objectives
Plan and implement staff development for fine arts teachers that supports instructional programs, incorporate input from teachers and principals, and is consistent with the district’s mission
Observe classroom instruction and develop action plans for improvement.
Maintain positive public relations with various fine arts community organizations
Policy, Reports, and Law
Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required
Budget
Develop and administer the fine arts department budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective, and funds are managed prudently
Work with building principals regarding fine arts budgets, purchasing and scheduling
Prepare specifications for fine arts bids and supervise the purchase of fine arts materials and equipment
Personnel Management
Prepare, review and revise job descriptions in the fine arts department
Select, train, evaluate, and supervise department secretaries and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal
Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members
Demonstrate use of appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement
Articulate the district’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the district’s mission
Demonstrate an awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs
Other:
Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
Other duties as assigned in the best interest of the school district
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise and evaluate the performance of support staff in the visual and performing arts department
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional state travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
