Job Description : Who we are:
Star Cinema Grill is an upscale, dine-in theater concept that offers guests first-run cinema releases, an extensive scratch made food menu, and a full-service bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, spirits, and specialty cocktails. We own and operate eight Star Cinema Grills in the greater Houston, TX area, as well as three cinemas in the Chicago, IL area.
Who we are seeking:
We are growing and in search of a Director of Operations who is a people first centric leader who will except responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the company’s cinema operations, by providing direction and support to the cinema leadership teams to ensure that the business is performing to company standards.
What you will do for us:
The following tasks are not intended to be all inclusive or restrictive, other duties may be assigned as necessary:
Participates in recruiting, hiring, training and development of all exempt cinema leadership team members
Works with General Managers (GM’s) to develop their teams according to their respective Roadmaps and Areas of Responsibility (AOR’s)
Ensures the development of cinema leadership teams’ financial acumen by utilizing the company’s Financial Workbook
Partners with the Director of Human Resources to develop talent succession plans and individual development plans for cinema leadership teams
Observes, reviews and coaches hospitality steps with the leadership teams during cinema visits
Reviews and analyzes Profit & Loss (P&L) results with Vice President of Operations, Sr. Director of Operations and GM teams to ensure accuracy, and identify opportunities and areas of strength
Ensures cinema leadership teams analyze and submit daily Key Performance Indicator (KPI) correspondence
Reviews nightly recap emails and provides feedback to cinema leadership teams based on performance results
Examines cinema log notes daily. Ensures compliance and provides feedback to the leadership teams
Analyzes hourly team member schedules and provides feedback to GM teams based on weekly and monthly labor goals and budgets
Establishes team member staffing par levels with cinema GM’s and adjusts, as needed
Works with Vice President of Operations and Sr. Director of Operations on monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets
Partners with Director of Human Resources on leadership team performance evaluations
Reviews End of Period EOP (End of Period) with Director of Culinary and Manager of Beverage
Develops and delivers coaching, performance improvement plans and corrective actions for exempt team members, in partnership with the Director of Human Resources
Ensures uniform inventory is completed each period along with food/beverage EOP results
Oversees inventory and ordering process of gift cards, as needed
In partnership with cinema GM’s, sets up leadership team store permits in HotSchedules program and ensures renewals are managed in adherence to expiration dates
Performs other related duties as assigned

What you bring to the team:

Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the hospitality industry
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Working knowledge of theater ticketing software, preferred but not required
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma / GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related field preferred; or a combination of hospitality experience and education
At least 5 years of hospitality leadership experience preferred; including three years in a multi-location leadership role
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Prolonged periods of standing and working in a busy restaurant/cinema setting
Ability to travel by vehicle to multiple locations in and around market area on a regular basis
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times, with or without accommodation
Some out of state travel, approximately 25%, required (IL market)
