Job Description : SUMMARY
Prepares schedules and staff requirements for local household goods and commercial transportation systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Determines number of vehicles and crew based on information from sales associates, customer service representatives, and booked orders.
Prepares schedules indicating times of arrival and departure of vehicles.
Answers inquiries on types of services offered, rates, schedules, and areas services.
Investigates customers complaints involving such matters as damaged items, overcharges, or delay in shipment, and makes necessary adjustments.
Directs crew from job to job.
Directs salvage of damaged or used material.
Participates in planning Local Crew/Safety Meetings and activities.
Assist with file maintenance on tractors and trailers.
Scan and file DOT documents.
Assist with inbound logs and distribution.
Manage maintenance and repairs of local fleet.
Track and manage rental equipment.
Answer with inbound phone calls.
Manage dispatch window.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 60-100 employees on the Local Crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
