A New Life Charitable Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization based out of North County San Diego (Del Mar/Carmel Valley). We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Specialist that is passionate about working with us to save helpless homeless dogs, as well as those that have been neglected or abused. Currently we are operated exclusively by volunteers, and our team saved about 1,000 dogs last year! These dogs come from some of the most horrific conditions, many of whom have been living on the streets, as well as those we’ve rescued from abusive and/or severe neglect settings.We have significant experience in animal rescue and leverage an established network of highly qualified individuals, however, we are growing so quickly that we simply need additional support. Please visit our website at www.anlcf.org for more information on our organization.This is a part-time position that requires approx. 20-30 hours per week – however, it could easily become a full-time job for the right person, within a very short period. Working during weekends, as well as being on-call for after-hours emergencies is a requirement.
Responsibilities:-supporting the exec. director of the organization with all rescue operations, and in close coordination with other managers and volunteers.-Souring new fosters and volunteers, as well as interviewing potential adopters and facilitating adoptions-Scheduling vet visits and other care.-purchasing and coordinating the delivery of supplies to foster homes (food, beds, supplies, etc).-handling emergencies with adopted/fostered dogs.- scheduling dogs for proper vaccinations and spay/neuter, including the animals going to Petco events.-ensure all animals adopted or released for foster care have been microchipped and have collars and Rescue’s tags attached-assist health check staff with foster dogs.-working with Executive Director to solve medical problems and coordinate veterinarian visits —work with volunteers on updating dog information and maintain individual dog records through database system and internal shelter paperwork; prepares and maintains detailed monthly reports.-protects confidential information in Foster Program.-follows process to assure the availability of and animal entering the organization.-Coordinating travel for dogs attending adoption events or are being returned-Prepare paperwork and dogs for Rescue’s weekly Petco adoption events (i.e., microchip, vaccine records, etc.)-Works cooperatively with all volunteers-Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
This is an out of the office job with events at Unleashed (Petco) on Del Mar Heights Road in Carmel Valley, multiple days a week. The Operations Specialist would be working closely with managers and other volunteers on our team. This is a challenging and demanding position, but it is incredibly rewarding for those passionate and devoted to rescuing dogs.
Requirements: Ability to commit to the job for at least 12 months. Prior dog rescue or non-profit experience is a requirement, ideally numerous years of professional animal rescue experience. Applicant must love dogs–all breeds and sizes–and be very comfortable walking and handling them. Fluency inSpanish strongly preferred. Position requires applicant to be on-site at our adoption events.Requires a Have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, although Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be well versed in software programs, including Microsoft Office experience with computer database applications for maintaining records of customers and animals and possess strong customer service skills. As this position may require occasional driving duties, applicant must possess a valid Driver’sLicense and complete a Driver Information Form, provide a recent DMV Driving Record Report, and proof of insurance to be kept on file. Must live locally and be available immediately.
Compensation: Up to $50k annually, depending on qualifications to start, upon successful completion of a short training/trial period at $25/hr, potential for growth
