Position : Education Specialist, Accountability and Assessment

Job Description : Job Goal:
Provide timely, accurate technical assistance in the area of assessment, deliver professional development and services, and develop relevant products to support districts and charters. Remain current in accountability guidelines in support of districts and charters in the areas of accountability and assessment. Participate in special project activities in support of the ESC’s core purpose and strategic goals.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree
Certification/Licensure
Texas Educator Certificate
Experience

Three years of experience as a campus or district testing coordinator
Three years of teaching experience
Experience developing and presenting professional development

Special Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of practices and requirements for the Texas Assessment program
Knowledge of requirements pertaining to accessibility and designated supports
Knowledge of state and federal graduation requirements related to state assessments
Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
Proficient technical skills (Excel, PPT, Windows), including a working knowledge of data file formats used for assessments
Knowledge of the state contractor system for state assessments (Cambium).
Knowledge of accountability requirements
Proficient in data analysis of formative or summative assessments

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree
Three years of experience in district or campus leadership position(s)
Knowledge of Optional Assessment Programs (Interim Assessments, Texas Formative Assessment)
Knowledge of school improvement and accountability systems
Knowledge of rules, policies, and procedures related to state and federal requirements

Major Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Coordinator of Accountability and Assessment to provide exemplary services, customized services, and technical assistance to area districts and charters.
Develop, present, and facilitate effective professional development.
Develop products to support assessment related activities for internal or external customers.
Provide training and technical assistance in accountability and assessment, including but not limited to, STAAR, TELPAS, STAAR Alternate 2, TELPAS Alternate, and optional assessment programs (Interim assessments, Texas Formative Assessments) to internal and external customers.
Provide leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating professional development, services, and products in the areas of responsibility, including but limited to assessment.
Assist in planning and developing special project activities, e.g., grant proposals, interdepartmental services, research studies, and other customer-based projects.
Assist with planning and implementation of ongoing needs assessment and services for Region 4 customer districts.
Set project goals and timelines and adhere to deadlines.
Participate in developing communication networks between Region 4 and customer district personnel.
Engage in professional development to maintain knowledge and skills in the area(s) of responsibility.
Participate in state level functions related to area(s) of responsibility.

Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of a mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 20 pounds); may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.

Pay: $72,587.00 – $86,931.00 per year
