Position : Educational Scriptwriter (Remote- Freelance)

Job Description : Role: PhillyGoes2College, powered by the Philadelphia Education Fund, is seeking a scriptwriter with a background in education to write original content for a series of up to five, approximately two-minute animated videos.
The online video library will be hosted on PhillyGoes2College.org with the aim of instructing Philadelphia public school students and PhillyGoes2College users in the college-going process. Topics will include: 1) understanding your financial aid offer letter, 2) understanding the importance of GPA in your 9th grade year, 3) returning to college as a young adult, 4) making the most of your relationship with your high school counselor, and 5) the pathway of two-years in a community college before transferring to a four-year college or university.
The scriptwriter will work remotely but should be located within the Philadelphia-area, with experience working in the Philadelphia-area as a Counselor, Senior Seminar Teacher, College Access Provider, or similar position.
Responsibilities:

Write compelling, current, and original content that will engage and inform students around the college-going process
Write content in the format of approximately two-minute video scripts around the topics provided
Ensure originality of content differentiated from existing college-going videos
Review scripts to ensure accuracy, cohesion, educational value, and performability
Make revisions in response to feedback from the PhillyGoes2College and/or animation team as needed
Work collaboratively with the animation team as needed
Ensure proper deliverables and deadlines are met, and clearly communicate project progress with the PhillyGoes2College staff

Qualifications:

Experience working in the Philadelphia-area as a Counselor, Senior Seminar Teacher, College Access Provider, or similar position.
Experience in writing or editing educational/instructional content preferred but not required
Experience working with first-generation college-going students
Strong knowledge of the college-going process, particularly in relation to the five video topics listed above
Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and flexibility
Excellent English writing skills, including clarity, concision, readability, and originality of voice and content

Timeline:

Submit the following by April 5th to apply: 1) Resume and 2) Cover letter, to include a one-paragraph sample of writing around the college-going process speaking to a student audience
The first script will be due by late-April with additional four scripts due about every five weeks (exact dates TBD)
