Position : Employee Accommodations Analyst (FEHA/ADA) – COVID Grant
Job Description : Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a FEHA/ADA Employee Accommodations Analyst to oversee administration of leave of absences team, and lead all workplace accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those that fall under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. Additionally, ensure short-term and long-term accommodations for employees aligns with the laws and related regulations.
Responsibilities:
Support the well-being of employees who have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic through effective leave, absence, and work accommodation processes.
Provide support and guidance while performing activities related to short-term and long-term accommodations for employees at work or returning to work for medical-based accommodations.
Oversee total absence management process to include leave administration, accommodation and disability benefits.
Ensure best practice for reasonable accommodations and services are in place and coordinate compliance with regards to the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and California employment and privacy laws surrounding employees with disabilities.
Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
Draft and/or recommend revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Advise managers on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers’ compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
Support the leave administration team and case management, support coordination of the accommodation process for end-to-end case management, including working with executive management, the employee, clinic director at work location, and other stakeholders.
Provide support and guidance while performing activities related to short-term and long-term accommodations for employees at work or returning to work for medical-based accommodations.
Develop and implement a stay at work program for work-related or personal injuries and illnesses as well as programs to support employees returning to work after a work-related or personal injury.
Make recommendations on transitional work assignments or long-term accommodations within position based on restrictions as well as available tasks.
Ensure communication of the transition work assignment plan or accommodation to the associate and obtain their agreement.
Support coordination of the return to work, accommodations, and transitional work assignment program monitoring.
Preserve confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
Identify new projects to build effective plans to mitigate risk by analyzing data trends.
Act as liaison between our third-party vendors, Executive Management, Payroll, Benefits, employees and other departments/systems as appropriate.
Educate employees and HR on complex aspects and variables of return to work, accommodations, and complex case processes.
Provide guidance, assess risk, resolve issues, and escalate as appropriate for employees, managers, and HR
Escalate complex issues including inability to accommodate, complex cases, and transitional work programs for guidance from legal.
Assist in the maintenance of system records to ensure accurate and timely information documentation.
Grant funded program. This position is funded through 03/31/2023; continuation of employment is dependent upon availability of and/or renewed funding.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Human Resources Management, or closely related field.
Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) required.
Certified Professional in Disability Management (CPDM) highly preferred.
3 – 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a HR role within leave administration and integrated disability management.
Knowledge of federal and state disability laws, specifically ADAAA, FEHA and FMLA/CFRA.
Knowledge of the interplay between the FMLA/CFRA, workers’ compensation, and the ADAAA.
Knowledge and understanding of disability management, return-to-work strategies, ADAAA and related state and local statutes.
