Position : Employment Services Clerk
Job Description : YMCA International Services is a unique branch of the Y of Greater Houston and seeks to meet the needs of Houston’s significant refugee and immigrant communities. We provide comprehensive programs that focus on building human assets and fostering self-sufficiency. As a clerk with the Employment Services department, you will support the work of the department by completing administrative tasks.
Duties /Responsibilities The General Office Clerk primary duties will include:
Organize and maintain files and records, ensuring they remain updated and are easily accessible.
Sort and distribute incoming mail. Prepare outgoing mail (envelopes, packages, etc.).
Support program staff with follow-ups and deliver friendly and knowledgeable communication with clients by phone, Google text or email.
Skilled use of office equipment such as photocopier, printers, etc.
Excellent computer skills for word processing, spreadsheet creation, etc.
Rapid and accurate typing skills to take minutes of meetings and write case notes.
Demonstrate a team mentality and willingness to assist in office management and organization procedures.
Process and prepare documents, such as public benefits or government forms, employment and other support service applications.
Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
Meets timelines and deadlines related to supporting systems and employee compliance. Example includes but are not limited to Kronos Workforce Ready for review and approval of time sheets
Other duties as assigned including rotating schedule for food pantry
Outcomes Clerk will contribute to the program’s effectiveness by providing support to the case managers through high-quality administrative engagement as outlined above.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Familiarity with office procedures, devices and software
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Very good organizational skills
Effective time management and multi-tasking skills
Capable team player & collaborator
High School Diploma, some college and/or relevant professional experience
