Pay: $79,500 annualized (clear credential), $68,900 annualized(prelim credential), $66,144 (intern credential)
Hours: M-F, Full Time, 30 hours per week
The Teacher Position will plan, organize and implement anappropriate personalized instructional program in a learning environment thatguides, supports, and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academicpotential, completion of diploma requirements and post-secondary transitionplan. This Position will collaboratewith other Instructional Staff and school personnel.

Essential Functions: Develop, review and regularly update personalized academic plans based on students’ transcripts, assessment data, career pathway planning (CTE), post-secondary goals, and progress towards those goalsCreate and maintain an effective learning environment by modeling positive and respectful behavior, upholding and supporting high academic expectations, and maintaining positive and professional relationships with colleagues, students and parentsMeet with students at their scheduled appointment dates and timesConduct effective student appointments; preparing for and delivering instruction, engaging students in goal-setting, monitoring of progress and preparation for completion of graduation requirementsAssign appropriate courses of studyRefer students to core subject area teachers when necessaryEstablish and communicate learning objectives and content standards to be assessedPlan, prepare for and deliver instructional activities to facilitate learning experiencesProvide a variety of learning materials and resources to support independent learningIdentify and implement instructional strategies and resources to meet students’ varying needsEngage students in academic conversations that elicit critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communicationConnect instruction to real-world experiences and students’ post-secondary goalsRegularly check for understanding and provide clarifying and/or enrichment informationCarefully observe, review and evaluate student homework and tests to assess and monitor progressGrade course homework, projects, and testsProvide students with meaningful feedback to enhance learning and improve achievementEncourage and monitor the progress of individual studentsInstruct and monitor student progress in the use of online learning materials and technologyProvide appropriate accommodations, modifications and interventions for English Learners, students with 504 Plans, and Special Education studentsModel and guide students to develop strategies that foster independent learning skills such as, goal-setting, time management, and accessing/utilizing resourcesUse relevant technology to support instructionAdminister diagnostic assessments according to guidelines set forth by the Organization and siteRegularly communicate necessary information to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needsRefer students to support structures; tutors, intervention programs, labs, counselors, and other “wrap around’ services as appropriateManage student behavior in the Resource Center by enforcing rules and disciplinary systems of the CenterPrepare for and facilitate positive parent conferencesKeep updated with developments in subject area curriculum, teaching resources and methodsMaintain accurate and complete records of student progress and developmentMonitor credit completion rates of studentsMonitor student attendanceClaim and report daily attendanceKeep student work folders neat and organizedClose out student folders in accordance to Organization/Charter procedures and guidelinesGenerate report cards in accordance to Organization/Charter procedures and guidelinesDocument and review student notes and parent/student contacts in Contact ManagerUpdate all necessary records accurately and timely as required by law, Organizational policies, school regulations, and independent auditorsCollaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices through professional learning communities, student study teams, department meetings, and student retention meetingsParticipate in Professional Development opportunities as neededFollow established policies and procedures for reporting incidents (e.g., child abuse, substance abuse, harassment, and violence).Attend all required meetings and graduation ceremoniesPerform other duties as assigned
Minimum Physical Requirements: Ability to meet California Standards of physical and mental healthVisual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines.Able to conduct verbal conversation.Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels).Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk. Sedentary work.Able to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 15 pounds frequently, and 25 pounds occasionally.Able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and other classroom equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Successful passing of the California Basic Skills ExamEnrollment in a State approved teacher’s preparation program and student teachingProficient in MS Word, EmailThorough knowledge of California Teaching StandardsKnowledge of educational trends, research, and technology to support learningKnowledge of research-based instructional strategies necessary for effective instruction of all student populations, including students at-risk of academic failureAbility to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needsAbility to work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational programAbility to work effectively with all racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groupsAbility to communicate effectively including giving clear and concise instructions, using academic language, and appropriate level of delivery, and listening without bias and providing appropriate feedback/reinforcementAbility to compose and comprehend written communicationAbility to make independent judgementsAbility to meet deadlines and maintain accurate recordsCommitment to the education of all studentsPlanning and organizational skills
Certification Required: Valid California Single Subject or Multiple Subject in area of specialization or intern eligibleBachelor’s degree with major or minor in designated subject, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
