Job Description : The North Central Texas Council of Governments is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG’s purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions.The Department of Environment and Development is seeking an Environment & Development Program Assistant I. The purpose of this position is to support the Environment & Development Department functions and assist with administrative projects and public involvement, program development, implementation, and maintenance. This is accomplished by collaborating with and supporting staff, implementing department policies and procedures, and serving as a department representative. Position will assist with financial management and tracking, organizing meeting activities, implementing records management services, technical research, special projects, and providing professional support to the department and our members.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assisting in the hosting of public meetings, listening sessions, and outreach events, including the scheduling of meetings and events, updating and maintaining community outreach calendar, drafting agendas, transmitting meeting notices and announcements, coordinating the assembly of meeting materials, securing appropriate accommodations, coordinating refreshments and meals, conducting advertising, and attending and documenting meeting proceedings.
Assisting in the administration of E&D related training opportunities, and coordination with the Training Center regarding course schedules, instructors, costs, announcements, and targeted attendees.
Developing and maintaining various databases, maintaining electronic and paper filing systems, adhering to records management guidelines, ordering departmental supplies, and communicating with various committees for updates.
Posting information to and maintaining up-to-date Web pages.
Participating in the budget development and monitoring process for program activities.
Providing proactive and timely customer service to Agency membership, external organizations, the general public, and staff; answering telephone calls, fielding questions, forwarding messages, and maintaining department calendars.
Drafting, compiling, reviewing, and distributing various department correspondence, presentations, spreadsheets, publications, and reports.
Providing assistance in ad hoc special events, projects, or programs as assigned.

Required Skills

Required ExperiencePosition requires an Associate’s degree in a related field of study with a year or less of related work experience.FLSA: Non-ExemptSalary Range: $40,446 – $45,000/yearNCTCOG is an equal opportunity employer/program.
