Job Description:
The Fraud Analyst is responsible for assisting in originating, implementing, and maintaining the Credit Union’s Enterprise Fraud Risk Management Program to ensure conformity and adherence with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
· Analyze alerts received from the anti-money laundering and fraud systems as well as daily, monthly, and quarterly reports designed to detect suspicious activity. Identify trends, patterns, and unusual activity, and escalate activity deemed suspicious for further investigation.
· Conduct periodic reviews to ensure that both the thresholds being used to generate alerts, as well as the nature of the overall framework, remain appropriate given the risk environment. Ensure reviews are documented and details of changes to thresholds are retained.
· Conduct external investigations or complex problems or situations and provides recommendations and/or solutions.
· Respond to inquiries or refers inquiries to the appropriate department or person and exhibiting the necessary follow through with members and/or staff involved.
· Prepare correspondence letters and requests for information from members and employees.
· Partner with other Financial Institutions, Law Enforcement Agencies, and Retail establishments to exchange information and coordinate case investigation collaborations on identified organized crime rings, public corruption, financial crimes, and other violations of federal or state statutes.
· Advise the Director of Security and Financial Crimes, of emerging fraud issues and consult and guide the Credit Union in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks.
· Create reports detailing the Credit Union’s fraud risk and trend related issues.
· Assist in completion of annual Risk Assessments of the relevant Fraud risks.
· Assist personnel in resolving inquiries or issues relating to fraud matters; participate in various internal committees assigned.
· Help coordinate fraud training presentations and exercises with all personnel, including material presented to employees during the new hire orientation process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS):
· Bachelor’s Degree (BA) and Certifications preferred, and 3 years’ experience in a financial institution or work-related experience – an in-depth background in Credit Union administration, compliance and supervisory skills, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Advanced knowledge of related state and federal credit union compliance regulations, operational policies and procedures, and the Credit Union’s products and services.
· Advanced knowledge of regulations pertaining to suspicious member activity, including preparation and filing of SARs.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.
· Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
· Strong public speaking and presentation skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and instill trust within the organization
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
