Job Description : Job Title: Front-end Developer
Employment Type: Part-time *Contract*
Location: Remote
Status: 10 hours/week at $35/hour for 26 weeks
Reports to: This position reports to the Senior Director of IT, based in Dallas, TX, and would work closely with the volunteer-led project team.
ABOUT Citizens’ Climate: Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL)/Citizens’ Climate Education (CCE) is a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization focused on national policies to address climate change. CCE works to build nationwide support for a revenue-neutral carbon dividend approach to address climate change and coordinates with a 501(c)(4) sister organization, Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL), when volunteers engage in advocacy for specific legislation. Our 190,000 supporters are organized into more than 500 chapters. CCL/CCE staff train and support volunteers to build relationships with elected officials, publish media about climate solutions, educate their communities about climate change, and build political will for national climate legislation. Basic Functions
This position will be responsible for developing strategic updates to the Monthly Calling Campaign Tool, a React-based custom web application with a Java backend that automates messages and reminders for citizen engagement on the issue of climate change solutions.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Working collaboratively, you will:
Develop or update webpages from wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, and help standardize design elements.
Maintain and build interactive web tools using React.
Provide clear and robust technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
Strong knowledge of web development and design
Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React
Understanding of database structures, models, best practices, and functionality
Database proficiency with SQL
Familiarity with standard developer tooling and workflows (source control, deployment techniques)
Ability to work collaboratively with remote staff
Creative and analytical thinking with strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Java
Cloud technologies like Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services
