Imagine being the assistant to the Willy Wonka of Rolling Papers. That’s what this job really is. This ad is long with a hidden test because we are trying to find precisely the right person to join our family. HBI is a VERY tight knit group of amazing people. We are definitely not a normal corporate environment and every person who joins must have a positive happy mindset because we realize that we spend more time together than we do with anyone else. Most of our staff stays for the very long term, it really is like joining a family. We have a very relaxed work place BUT we work harder than anyone else in our industry. We believe in letting people succeed on their own, without micro managing. So, not everyone fits in to our family, but the ones who do LOVE IT HERE!! : )
I need a high-level personal assistant to both help in personal tasks, manage my vehicles and house, and help plan, shoot and post IG videos. If you know who I am, you already know the crazy hectic life I lead. I’m often traveling, am only partially in Phoenix and when I am in Phoenix I’m in the office every day shooting videos and helping keep things together. I need a filter; I need someone to get both the smallest things done for me and larger things too. I live in 3 places and am very often on the road when Covid ends. My PA is not just an assistant, they are my video filmer, idea-bouncer-offer, coordinator of various business projects and also has to act as a property manager for the homes, keeps all the cars fixed and cleaned, occasionally helps with travel arrangements and generally makes my life easier!! I won’t take you with me for most of my trips, but occasionally I will need you to be there – especially at trade shows, events and store appearances. That’s why it’s important that you’re a good traveler who really doesn’t mind flying around the country on short notice to help.
In addition to all of this, so much of my life is lived in the public light of social media (my personal account has over 2mil on IG and 1.2mil on TikTok) that I need you to be able to help me create content. Whether it’s holding my phone for filming a video or generally bouncing ideas off of each other, there is a lot of video and photo and posting assisting work that I need when I’m in Arizona or when you’re at an event with me. If you aren’t comfortable taking videos or laughing and joking around (we do that a lot during filming because if we can make ourselves laugh we know we’re making the world laugh), this job isn’t right for you. Hey let me be very honest and clear, if you’re not witty this isn’t a good job for you. I’ll be asking you for help with captions and you have to be able to be QUICK, funny, fun and full of ideas. Otherwise I’m doing it all alone : (
Here are some basic requirements:

My insurance policy requires that you are at least 24 years old with a valid driver’s license with no accidents in the past 3 years – you’d better be a really good driver because you’ll be bringing in my five eclectic vehicles for service at some point. (Please don’t apply if you don’t currently meet this requirement)
Flexible schedule – If I need you to do something late, odd hours etc., you’ll need to be able to drop everything and do it (this is absolutely not a regular 9-5 job, when I am in town you’ll be staying at the office with me late randomly).
Meaningful experience being a PA.
Must be able to do occasional heavy lifting (event/shoot set ups, some equipment is 45lbs and must be carried carefully, I have horses and will sometimes need help moving heavy things like hay bales)
You’re really quick and smart and can truly figure out most things on your own without direction!
You truly consider yourself good at using and creating fun content on Instagram! I actually test for this during the interview process because I thrive with creative idea people! It’s so much more fun that way, it keeps my energy way up.
Extremely open mind and a warm heart!
You have at least a 2 year associates degree or equivalent
You smile so much that other people around you consistently comment on that, and sometimes they mention how you have “positive energy” or “bring warmth to the room.” I strive to surround myself with only positive-minded people!
You’re REALLY GOOD at memory games (translation: you won’t forget to do anything I ask you to do – if you find yourself being reminded by others to do things again this won’t be the right job for you. I have a rule that if I become your ‘reminder-person’ saying “hey did you remember to do xxx” instead of vice-versa I have to let you go immediately. I can barely keep my own stuff together and my assistant needs to assist me, not vice versa.)
Strong attention to detail – every detail counts! Wait let me say that again, this job is really truly only for someone that has a strong attention to detail. If you’re kind of forgetful this won’t work and you’ll only last a month. There are surely better positions out there for you than this, so please don’t apply unless you’re really an attention to detail strong memory person!
A fond appreciation of smoking culture (if you have a distaste for smokers please don’t apply, we’ll never get along). There will be hemp smoke in the room sometimes when I film.
A true animal lover of all types (we are vegan and a primary supporter of a local animal shelter, we foster dogs, feed quail and more)
Ability to handle stressful situations like dealing with fibbing tradespeople who will say anything possible to avoid having to fix their mistakes. Your list of things to get done will be pages long at times and never-ending so you have to be tenacious, stubborn and strong willed! If you tend to get stressed or discouraged, this really truly isn’t the right position for you!
Tough, Impervious and NOT easily offended! Things will come up during your time with me where I’ll ask why you didn’t accomplish some task that you already accomplished or maybe I even forgot to tell you about the task or maybe I’m not happy with the way you did it. If you laugh that sort of thing off we’ll get along great, if you tend to take things personal this won’t be a good fit for either of us.

In the screening questions I will ask you to write me a quick note to let me know a little bit about yourself, why you’d be perfect for my particular job, and some ideas you have on how you’d make my life easier. After all, a great assistant is one who truly makes their person’s life easier! To screen out the people who didn’t read this far, there will be a question about herding cats and the answer is exactly 9. In the screening questions I’ll also ask you to please also send a link to some of your social media work (anything you’ve done that you want me to see), especially your IG so I can see your posting style since you’d be helping film many of my IG videos with me.
Please take your time to ensure every screening question is answered and ALL grammar / spelling is correct because my team that previews these automatically declines applicants with incorrect grammar or spelling responses.
One last thing! Please only apply if you are genuinely available to start soon. Yes this is a dream job for the right person, but don’t apply unless you’re TRULY 100% READY to join our team (we’ve had our hearts broken by great people who apply but then get too scared to leave their current position).
