Ready to put your analytical and administrative support skills to use to help fight crime? Then join us! The Department of Insurance is seeking a motivated and skilled Investigative Support Analyst.
Under the direction of the Assistant Chief, or designee, the Investigative Support Analyst will work with a high level of independence and is primarily responsible for supporting the operations of regional office workers’ compensation investigative task forces. This position is responsible for conducting complex research and analysis of suspected criminal activity received by the Fraud Division from the Workers’ Compensation insurance industry, the public, law enforcement and other governmental agencies in support of the operational objectives of the Fraud Division Regional Offices. The Investigative Support Analyst’s work involves review of preliminary information and data analysis to identify and establish links and relationships between suspects and/or organized groups. The position also requires advanced reading comprehension, excellent report writing skills, and the preparation of detailed charts and link analysis materials to be used for background information or able to stand up to scrutiny for presentation in court proceedings. This is an exceedingly responsible and accountable position requiring a keen eye for detail and a significant ability to work with a variety of sources, utilize public and law enforcement database information, manipulate and analyze the information, work independently and report on the results of the analysis. This relevant information gathering and identification of patterns and trends will assist operational personnel in selecting cases and the planning and deployment of resources for the investigation of the suspected criminal activity. The Investigative Support Analyst will work closely with Regional Office Sergeants and Detectives in the development of the criminal investigations resulting from their analysis and identification. The Investigative Support Analyst will work with Fraud Division management to analyze operational statistics, analyze trends, create reports, and complete other special projects. Routine travel may be required within the state of California via private or public transportation (i.e., automobile, airplane, etc.). Travel may include overnight stay. Overtime may be required.

Working Conditions

Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle;
Must be able to work in a law enforcement environment that includes the presence of firearms;
Ability to work flexible hours with some overtime as necessary;
Appropriate dress according to the office environment; and
Must be able to work in a high-rise building.
