Job Description : Summary
The Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) provides for the care, health and well-being of all research animals used in the pursuit of scientific achievement and excellence at Baylor College of Medicine. CCM provides the highest quality veterinary and animal care and acts as a resource for the faculty on veterinary and scientific issues relating to the use of laboratory animals. Under general supervision, provides routine care and handling of laboratory animals in a safe and sanitary manner.
Job Duties
Feeds and waters animals.
Changes animal caging as scheduled, sanitizing rooms, equipment and hallways.
Conducts daily animal health checks.
Applies permanent identification devices.
Ensures that activities are in compliance with AAALAC standards.
Signs multiple husbandry logs.
Oversees cage wash daily operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
One year of relevant experience.
Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
Other
Builds a logical approach to address problems or opportunities or manage the situation at hand by drawing on own knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
Willingly cooperates and works collaboratively towards solutions which generally benefit all involved parties; works cooperatively with others to accomplish company objectives; promotes collaboration and partnerships.
Maintains channels of communication; effectively provides verbal communication and exhibits good listening skills; provides concise, complete, and professional information to others.
