Kelly Services is currently seeking a Laboratory Associate for one of our top clients in San Diego, CA. Pay rate: $28-$34 depending on experience
Assignment duration: 12 months

As a Laboratory Associate placed with Kelly Services you will be responsible for supporting a dynamic Enzyme Technologies R&D team. The position will support enzyme discovery and screening efforts by providing research teams with preparing biological media, setting up microtiter plates, shake flask and fermenter cultivation, recovering and purifying enzyme products and maintaining bioprocess lab operations. Formula for success: You Will…Have meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and planning skills. Be able to independently organize, prioritize, plan, execute, and record a variety of tasks daily. Display strong interpersonal skills and be a proactive and confident communicator with internal and external parties.
Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You… Basic qualifications:

2-year degree in a scientific field required.
1 year of experience in a biological laboratory environment required.
Basic understanding of microbial fermentation and aseptic technique in cultivating bacterial and fungal cells in laboratory settings

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Engineering or Chemistry Preferred.
Solid written and verbal presentation skills, with ability to effectively use MS Office Suite.
Hands on experience in handling and culturing of microorganisms on agar plates, in microtiter plates and shake flasks.
Experience in setting up bioreactors and protein purification technique such as tangential flow filtration.
Knowledge and experience with bioprocess lab workflows, bioreactor process control and knowledge about microbial metabolism is a plus.
Highly motivated and enthusiastic team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
Organized individual with attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize various projects and workflows.
