Job Description : Shield T3 Job Description – Laboratory Operations Assistant
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Operations Assistant, assists in specimen receipt, monitoring of laboratory specimens, process specimens going to reference laboratories, evaluates specimens for acceptability, supports inventory management and performs initial sample processing to prepare samples for testing.
Beyond the day-to-day sample processing, the Laboratory Operations Assistant will assist the warehouse team to help ensure all supplies needed for the day’s testing are available, rejected samples are appropriately documented, ensure sure that customer and client queries and complaints are communicated to the lab manager, and that the laboratory workspace is kept clean.
Key Responsibilities:
Laboratory

Assures the quality and quantity of specimen is submitted for analysis is acceptable.
Keep detailed track of received inventory and sign, date, and email PPO’s to @receipts.
Keep detailed weekly log of tracked inventory and send weekly spreadsheet to central inventory team. Manage and request inventory from central as need be.
Attend bi-monthly meeting with central inventory team.
Keep detailed log of untracked inventory. Notify central inventory team of low inventory, or order inventory using Amazon Business account as need arises.
Participates in an approved competency program that demonstrates knowledge and skill and includes specimen receiving and processing
Processes samples to prepare them for testing.
Receives and racks samples through the Laboratory Information System
Continually makes best use of time during their shift by assuming responsibility for communicating pertinent information with co-workers; completion of shift, and coordinating lunch/breaks and daily tasks in a manner which meets the needs of the laboratory.
Demonstrates responsibility and flexibility in maintaining work schedules consistent with the needs of the laboratory.
Assists in training new employees and students; willingly assist those with insufficient knowledge or inability to complete assigned tasks or duties.
Routinely clean and disinfect workspace.
Performs additional duties, as necessary.

Operations

Oversee the distribution and collection of supply bins to field staff for community popup sites.
Daily documentation of observations, trends, and recommendations for process improvements.
Oversee quality control methods such as the sign-in and sign-out process.
Work with Administrative Assistant, FOMs, and PMs on training needs.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
No experience required

Experience & Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
Organization and the ability to multitask to complete a wide variety of tasks
Flexibility to help them adjust to new tasks if company or office needs change
Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all employees
Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly
Basic laboratory safety protocol and training
Ability to work collaboratively with field, lab, and headquarters staff
Comfortable working in person
Proof of Vaccination against COVID-19
Access to reliable transportation
