Job Description : This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)
Responsibilities:

Repairs, overhauls, modifies, tests, and installs a variety of locking devices, including manufacturing and duplicating keys and the keying and combinating of locking mechanisms. Works with metals, alloys and plastices to develop parts and components.
Assembles, test and evaluates the completed locking devices considering the desired objectives.
Modifies and reworks locking devices to accomplish special security objectives. These devices are usually designed to work in conjuction with other components and equipment to form a complete security or surveillance systems.
Reshapes, reworks and finishes parts and fabricates parts to close fits. Performs full installation and repair cycle on commercially manufactured locking devices, as well as, reworking of locks to improve or provide new structural or functional capabilities.
Works with drawings or specifications that are often vague or incomplete, which frequently requires the development of sketches, drawings or diagrams with sufficient detail to identify missing tolerance, dimension and critical parts or surfaces. Interpret technical manuals, manufacturer diagrams, and specifications to repair and test locking mechanisms.
Using common tools of the trade.

Qualifications:

ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION
ABILITY TO INTERPRET INSTRUCTIONS AND SPECIFICATIONS, INCLUDING BLUEPRINT READING
KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC.
TROUBLESHOOTING.
Must possess extensive knowledge of the functions and capabilities of commercially manufactured locking device.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Requirements for all NAVFAC Positions:
– A US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
