The Maintenance Assistant must possess the ability to perform a variety of duties, including assisting with the maintenance/repair and modification of the building, its utility systems, and grounds; follow a written planned maintenance program on various mechanical, electrical, and systems equipment, as well as the necessary documentation as required in permanent files.
MAINTENANCE POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school graduate/GED preferred.
At least one year in one of the following fields: (a) general maintenance (institution or building), (b) carpentry or facility construction, (c) plumbing and/or electricity, (d) appliance maintenance. Must posses the ability to communicate, understand, and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal, as well as work independently preferred.
Prefer 2 years maintenance experience with HVAC
A valid California driver’s license preferred.
Accepts responsibility and accountability for all actions while demonstrating initiative with excellent judgment.
Loyal, reliable, tactful, honest, and discreet, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

MAINTENANCE POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carries out planned maintenance program as directed by director of plant operations and documents as required.
Expedites repair requisitions on a safety-first, patient-need, priority basis.
Repairs, replenishes, and refinishes walls, wall coverings, ceilings, and floors.
Constructs wood projects (e.g., shelving, cabinets, podiums, etc.).
Orders and purchases supplies.
Observes mechanical/electrical devices in operations, locating, adjusting, and correcting potential problems.
Operates a variety of power equipment (e.g., hand/table saw, grinder, drill press, etc.).
Performs plumbing, painting, carpentry, and plastering; hanging wall covering; and maintaining and cleaning of mechanical rooms, etc., as needed.
Can work independently or with a tradesman when needed.
Assists housekeeping as needed.
Works with clients in training capacity, if applicable.
