Job Description : TITLE: Manager, Special Events
DEPARTMENT: Special Events
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Special Events
STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages event planning cycle including but not limited to the creation of event schematics, addition of enhancements, client billing, client relations, staffing requests, invoicing and reconciliation
Responsible for event-day management of events at Petco Park including but not limited to management of staff, facilities, load in, vendors and catering
Manages internal events including batting practices, festivals, receptions, sales events, etc. Maintains strong working relationship with internal departments and communicates upcoming event requests and details to Special Events team and Operations
Coordinates event reconciliation and accounting to help determine event net profits
Ensures all operational requirements as outlined in Event Orders and Production Notes are implemented, executed and fulfilled appropriately and correctly as communicated per each document from inception to completion
Oversees Padres game festivals by collaborating internal with concessionaire, marketing and operations to provide an enjoyable experience for fans
Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Must meet the following minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or educational equivalent in hospitality and tourism, communication, business administration, marketing or other closely related field
Proficient to advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
General knowledge of office skills, use of office equipment (copier, laser printers, fax machine, telephones & computers)
Strong personnel management, collaboration, communication, time-management and organizational skills. Proven ability to multi-task and manage projects on strict deadline
Excellent written and verbal skills
Proven ability to correctly use punctuation and grammar
Possess high degree of discretion, integrity, professionalism and accountability
Consistent, punctual and regular attendance
Professional image and demeanor
Strong ability to work with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and extended hours
Must have a valid driver’s license
Able to travel as needed
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 50 pounds
As a condition of employment, the job candidate(s) must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check, drug screen and provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (at least 14 days have passed since receiving final dose of vaccine)
