A part-time Office Assistant position is available with The City of Fort Worth Police Department. This position will be assigned to the Northwest Division. The Office Assistant will contribute to the City’s strategic goals, mission and vision by providing professional support to the Code Blue Program.
Work Schedule:

This is a reduced schedule position working 29 hours.
The number of hours will fluctuate depending on Department needs, but cannot exceed an average of 29 hours per week.
Hours may be flexible upon completion of training & orientation.
Schedule will include evenings and weekends.

The Office Assistant job responsibilities include:

Engage with the community, educate citizens about the Code Blue Program, and recruit new participants for the program.
Work with other sworn and non-sworn employees to advance Citizens on Patrol (COP).
Answer telephones, emails and provide assistance as needed to promote the goals of community engagement with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Organize and host training events for Code Blue volunteers.
Collect, process and distribute information and equipment related to the Code Blue Program.
Assist in ordering and maintaining necessary program supplies.
Operate a variety of office equipment including computer, copy machine, handheld radio, cell phone or other equipment related to duties.
Assist with special Code Blue events such as award banquets, National Night Out, recruitment events, outreach events and holiday parties.
Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED Certification PLUS
Two (2) years of responsible clerical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
Bilingual
Higher levels of education and experience coordinating volunteers related to the vacancy
Experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel (A successful candidate will have intermediate level proficiency in Excel)
Extensive telephone and public contact customer service skills
Experience with minor book keeping and tracking of inventories

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Final candidates selected for hire in the Police Department will be subject to a fingerprint/criminal history background check and polygraph examination. Applicants must not have used marijuana during the previous two (2) years, nor illegally used any controlled substances within the last ten (10) years.

Working outdoors at community events.
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.
Physical Demands:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; manual dexterity required.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Conditions of Employment
Candidates who do not meet the Education requirement, may be considered if they have more relevant work experience than the position requires. Those selected for employment will be required to pass Pre-Employment checks depending on the position requirements. Those could include, but are not limited to: criminal background check, drug screen, education verification, etc. Criminal convictions will be considered on a case by case basis.
