This is an experienced payroll position that works closely under the supervision of the Controller to maintain payroll-related transactions of the organization. This role needs to be good with numbers, trustworthy with sensitive information, and have great communication skills to interact with colleagues and senior leadership.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manage semi-monthly, multi-state payroll process that includes importing, proofing, editing, processing, and transmitting all payroll wages, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, and manual payments consistent with federal and state wage and hour lawsPerform specific duties related to insurance plans, 401k, and flexible spending accountsReconciliation of payroll-related accounts and timely vendor paymentsPerform updates to payroll-related information and manage overall payroll workflowEnsure timely processing of all new hires, promotions, transfers, and terminationsAnalyze and audit payroll data for accuracy of postingPrepare journal entries related to payroll and benefits and record timely and accuratelyActs as the primary point of contact with outsourced payroll services including auditing the payroll entered by service, providing internal support for issues, and creating new custom reportsProcess taxes and payment of employee benefitsKeep track of hours, rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information, etc.Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiorsComplete and submit accurate and timely information in support of Workers Comp reporting and auditsMaintains payroll schedule and communicates changes proactivelyEnsures PTO accrual is accurate for all team members, create and distribute monthly PTO reports for managersComplete routine items such as out of cycle processing, unemployment reporting, security clearance questionnaires, and employee verificationsSupport W2 processing, budgeting, audits, and other special projects as assigned by ControllerPrepare reports for senior leadership, parent company, human resources, etc.Perform other duties as assigned#Li-RemoteRequirementsQUALIFICATIONS: Associate Degree in Accounting required (Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred)3+ years of applied experience in payroll processingStrong knowledge of MS Office, Accounting, and Payroll softwareExperience with payroll accruals, audit support, and multi-state payrollA complete or comprehensive understanding of payroll practices and proceduresThe ability to act responsibly and ethically when working with sensitive financial information, whether it’s information for the company or individualsThe willingness and ability to comply with local, state, and federal financial regulations, as well as the regulations established by the company itselfExperience with government contracting organizations preferredValid driver’s license and insuranceApplicants are subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements related to the clearance processWORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and/or professional office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.
