Position : Police Communications Operator

Job Description : Police Communications Operators answer calls from the public and communicate via radio with police officers regarding all types of emergencies and non-emergencies. The City of Phoenix is seeking individuals who demonstrate the ability to calmly work with the citizens of Phoenix and police officers while using a multi-line telephone system, radio network panel, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to receive, prioritize, and process calls for police services. Our Police Communications Operators work both as a Call Taker, answering 911/Crime Stop calls, and Radio Dispatcher. This is a 24-hour a day, 7-day a week operation.

SALARY

$22.64 (minimum) – $34.86 (maximum) hourly / $47,091 – $72,509 annually

Pension Information

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One year of experience in public contact and clerical work including experience in general typing.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

The City of Phoenix has paused plans to implement a federal mandate requiring all city employees be vaccinated against COVID-19. This decision comes after a series of legal challenges and a ruling from a federal judge which temporarily halts the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors nationwide. If the requirement is reinstated, the City of Phoenix may require new hires to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status as a condition of employment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Ability to accurately type 40 words per minute (net) from dictation.
Able to sit and/or stand at designated workstation for extended periods of time.
Able to work any shift during 24/7 operation period.
Full disclosure of civilian driving history/record.
Full disclosure of civilian background history.
Full disclosure of civilian financial history.
Proficient at entering data and viewing information on multiple computers monitors at the same time.
