Job Summary: We are hiring energetic leaders and adventure role models to serve as summer Program Directors at several camp locations. Program Directors are responsible for enhancing programming and engaging all campers that come to Plato Learning for intense hero-training, epic adventures, and unforgettable other-worldly experiences.
What does that mean? (Job Responsibilities)
Engage the Demigods. Whether the activity is Laestrygonian Ball, or an adventure-filled Quest, Program Directors ensure campers are engaged in their activities, and that programming continues to grow to meet our demigod’s development. They encourage campers to take risks, participate, and explore their own personal limits, while celebrating the heroic strengths they already possess.
Conceptualize the Hero’s Journey. While the Camp Director organizes the camp schedule, the Program Director implements the content, brainstorming and originating how each activity flows into the next- making a week-long experience that immerses campers and staff in the adventure each week. Training modules introduce the team of Program Directors to our activity content, and together they strive to knit it all together like an Athenian tapestry.
Train Heroes to Lead. Program Directors help facilitate Counselor and CIT training, encouraging them to lead activities with confidence and come up with new ideas to keep programming fresh. Whether it is a core activity like sword training, or an elective like Potions- Counselors are inspired to be enthusiastic leaders by following your exemplary spirit.
Be the “Call to Action”. We believe the best learning comes from serious play, and the Program Director provides the Call to Action- organizing and leading larger activities, like the Olympics, or the Final Battle. Crossing the threshold to camp puts demigods in their own realm, and the Program Director guides them to become the best hero they can be through uplifting and empowering mental and physical challenges .
