Job Description:
Provide LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Software) support to entire HITC staff including analytical and engineering staff, interacts with global based users and the LabVantage LIMS support team, and provides local training support on system use and instrument applications. Provide LIMS support to Global users.
Responsibilities
Manage the LIMS system at HITC, develop applications required for new instruments and integrate them into LIMS system.
Training of laboratory staff and other LIMS users initially and after updates to the LabVantage LIMS software
Interfacing of laboratory instruments for electronic transfer of data to LIMS for example by interfacing the instruments PCs to LabVantage CoNNECT for data transfer application. Understand the function and operation of various analytical instruments to custom program interface as instrument models and outputs change. Good communication skills are a must, since the individual will be interacting frequently with laboratory personnel, laboratory management, LIMS users, and personnel from various parts of the organization. Manage ChemLaunch application i.e., Maintenance, and troubleshooting. Follows HS&E policies and guidelines and ensures that pilot plant and laboratory operations are conducted in accordance with HS&E procedures. Builds, installs, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain on-line/Offline GC’s and related equipment. Works with pilot plant staff to verify analyses and plant operations when problems arise. Develops analytical solutions to new problems as they are required.
Qualifications M.Sc / Ph.D degree in Chemistry or related physical science along with computer science/Applications Proficient in the application, maintenance, and theory of online GC instrumentation. Experience using Chemserver, Chemstation, or TotalChrom software. Understands the relationship between environmental conditions and the performance of the on-line equipment. 2-3 years hands on experience with LabVantage LIMS as well as experience working in or around a scientific laboratory.
Excellent computer skills including experience with programming for scientific spreadsheets and databases Experience with Oracle, SQL, SQLPLUS, and PL/SQL.
Experience with computer hardware interfacing (RS-232, RS-485, TCP, etc) to enable scientific instruments to automatically transfer data to LIMS
