The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is looking for individuals that are committed to service, community, and teamwork. The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) performs an integral role in improving Arizona’s workforce by assisting individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, and those with barriers, to prepare for and obtain meaningful employment. DERS supports Arizona employers with recruitment assistance by connecting them to a skilled workforce. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Re-entry Business Services Coordinator with the Employer Engagement Administration (EEA). This position is responsible for developing and strengthening formal and informal partnerships with employers who are open to hire job seekers who are re-entering the community throughout Arizona.

Job Duties:

Outreach and promote the benefits of hiring second chance job seekers within the ARIZONA@WORK system to employers through face-to-face meetings, telephone calls, email, community events, etc.
Develop and maintain a quality relationship with employers throughout the State.
Coordinate with internal and external partners to execute and continuously improve state-wide strategies that identify and prioritize the engagement of employers.
Develop and facilitate employer focus groups to cultivate best practices, innovative opportunities and concepts to better support this population; continually create and advance the relationship between ARIZONA@WORK and employers.
Conduct effective public relations with community organizations and local chambers of commerce.
Participate in all aspects of the Arizona Management System (AMS) and align all activities with AMS continuous improvement principles and practices.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Travel required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of the Correction community, DES Programs, resources, policies, and procedures; the principles, practices, and methodology of human services and how they are addressed in varying organizational structures; diverse cultures and communities within the State and federal government.
Skills in interpersonal relationships, community entitlement and public relations; effective communication and facilitation techniques across various cultures; network development; public speaking; employer engagement; event planning and implementation.
Ability to set priorities; problem solve; address problems quickly; organize, plan and implement hiring events, job fairs, and custom employer recruitment events; develop positive and effective working relationships with diverse group of employers; work with established guidelines and follow set policies and procedures as related to job duties; ability to travel statewide, work varied hours throughout the business week which may include weekends and evening hours.

Selective Preference(s):

The preferred candidate will have three or more years developing and maintaining relationships with employers (business to business experience).

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
The position will require a current, valid Arizona Driver’s License. Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) and have an acceptable driving record in accordance with DES Fleet Management-Safety Program policy and procedures (DES 1-07-26 & DES 1-07-26-01). Employees will be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
