Job Description : GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accountant is responsible for monitoring the financial resources of the organization, managing the fiscal reporting functions, and monitoring and completing various aspects of the month-end close. Along with the Director of Finance, this position is responsible for the utilization of the general ledger software. The position also assists the Director of Finance and Senior Manager, HR with specific financial functions in the payroll and EHR software applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.Monitors compliance with finance department procedures including checks, signature requirements, deposit verifications and expense reimbursement procedures.

2.Monitors cash on hand and transfers to and from the primary credit lines (credit card, amazon business, etc.)

3.Processes the organization’s bank reconciliation entries.

4.Prepares monthly journal entries and monthly/quarterly account analyses.

5.Provide assistance as needed, and serve as a backup to the Senior Manager, HR.

6.Prepares monthly invoices for contracts with affiliates and other entities.

7.Processes Accounts Payable (AP) invoices for payment, in addition to managing vendor files and required documentation.

8.Assists in the annual budget process.

9.Assists with the annual external audit process.

10.Performs purchasing as needed for department heads and organization.

11.Provide updates and reports to leadership and staff as needed.

12.Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related subject preferred.

Understanding of payers, grants, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

Must possess experience with accounting software and mastery of Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports.

Committed to working collaboratively to achieve organization’s goals.

Strong communication skills, including understanding what needs to be communicated to whom, when and how.

Ability to work independently, including handling multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.

Strong judgement, analytical, and problem solving skills.

Has a demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and institutions.
