Job Description : Full-time Research Assistant wanted for a multiyear NIH funded research project that examines how alcohol and psychological factors are related to men’s dating and sexual behavior. Focus groups, surveys, and experimental behavioral studies will be conducted, some using virtual reality environments.

Essential Functions:

Recruiting and scheduling participants for studies.

Running studies, including focus groups and experimental studies.

Conducting data analysis; helping with study design and writing up data findings.

Helping organize and maintain documentation and computer files for funding agency and IRB.

Helping to train and supervise undergraduate research assistants.

Help prepare materials for staff meetings.

Handling participant compensation and maintaining study supplies.

Other related tasks as assigned.
Unique Duties
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field related to psychology or social and behavioral sciences.

Some research experience in a field related to psychology or social and behavioral sciences.

Some experience supervising others.

Excellent interpersonal skills, including comfort discussing dating, sex, and alcohol use.

Must be comfortable being nonjudgmental in settings in which people consume alcohol and discuss sexual behavior.

Conscientious, attentive to details, self-motivated, and organized.

Experience with using computers and MS Office applications.

Willingness to work some evening and weekend hours to accommodate participants’ schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a field related to psychology or social and behavioral sciences.

Extensive research experience in field related to psychology or social and behavioral sciences including participant recruitment, running studies, data entry, and maintaining required documents.

Strong computer skills including extensive knowledge and use of MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook), document sharing platforms (e.g., Dropbox and OneDrive), and Zoom.

Familiarity with SPSS and Qualtrics.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Experience conducting focus groups.

Ability to balance completing multiple tasks on varying timelines.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
