Position Overview:
TERI is seeking a Project Associate/Research Associate to join the Centre for Global Environment Research (CGER) team in India. This position provides a unique opportunity for those willing to be at the forefront of cutting-edge research in the field of climate adaptation and interlinked developmental issues. The candidate will be primarily responsible for contributing to work under several projects being undertaken with the government, bilateral and multilaterals. In addition, she/he will be responsible for administrative support for the Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 conference secretariat. TERI along with WASP is co-hosting the 6th Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 (scheduled in October 2021), the world-s biggest conclave on climate change adaptation. She/he is expected to work closely with international, national and regional stakeholders to help understand adaptation and sustainable development needs to mainstream processes that would enable planning, implementation and mainstreaming of climate adaptation efforts.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the team and execute key responsibilities as following:
Carry-out grounded research on climate change adaptation and resilience through a political-economy lens
Execute consultancy based projects on adaptation and resilience
Design and implement climate adaptation measurement and transparency frameworks
Research on best practices on climate change adaptation, sustainable development and livelihoods and help compile case studies
Research on subnational and non-state climate adaptation and resilience efforts
Assist the Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 conference secretariat with the following tasks:
o Administrative and research based support for the Adaptation Futures 2020/2021 conference Secretariat
o Assist in planning and organizing pre-conference webinars and agenda for the main conference
o Prepare proceedings of pre-conference webinars and the main conference
o Co-ordinate activities of the capacity-building week during the conference
o Communication and outreach activities (including social media) for pre-conference webinars and the main conference
Helping to write up project documents, working papers, journal articles and blogs
Provide technical input for capacity development training tools and material for regional and national stakeholders on climate adaptation
Assist in preparation of blogs and discussion papers pertaining to climate change adaptation
Providing support to other CGER projects as and when required
Experience
2 – 3 years
Qualification
Master-s Degree in Economics, International Development/Relations, Environmental Science, Climate Science and Policy or related fields.
Skills
Exceptional research and writing skills
Prior knowledge of climate change adaptation and building resilience, and existing global, national and regional policy frameworks for low-carbon and resilient development. These include UNFCCC processes, NAPCC
