Job Description : CRITERIA – V – RESPIRATORY MEDICINE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Assists Consultants in carrying out following procedures:
Bronchoscopy (departmental / portable in critical care areas).
Insertion of Intercostal tube.
Diagnostic and therapeutic pleural aspiration.
Thoracoscopy
Endobronchial ultrasound (Linear / Radial )
Performance of pulmonary function test with or without bronchodilator.
Performance of diffusion study.
Performs the Time out before the commencement of invasive procedures.
Educates the patient about the techniques, during simple and forced expiratory measurements, of vital breathing parameters and confers with patient to explain test procedures.
Undertakes aseptic precautions during bronchoscopy and other invasive procedures, cleans and disinfects the equipments prior to the procedures.
Ensures the proper functioning of all the instruments prior to the commencement of the procedures.
Maintains pulmonary function equipments, bronchoscopes and associated supplies in the department.
Carries out decontamination of the PFT Lab & Bronchoscopy.
Coordinates timely dispatch of reports.
Performs the calibration of the equipments as required.
Follows laid down procedures so as to ensure patient safety.
Maintains stock and inventory of consumables in the Laboratory.
Possesses knowledge of infection control and waste management.
Ensures updated knowledge of laid down procedures.
Ensures JCI compliance in accordance with departmental requirements.
