Job Summary
Works with staff to effectively deliver school and community support services to optimize student achievement. Participates in the development of pro-active climate strategies to ensure that all students succeed. Ensures that students with any challenges receive the necessary support. Meets regularly with the Climate team to improve the school’s climate continuously.
Essential Functions

Under the direction of the Principal, serves as technical resource to staff on school climate initiatives.
Works with community-based, non-profit, and private agencies to ensure that effective support systems are made available to students and their families in meeting identified needs.
Meets with students, staff and families to provide assistance in meeting the social, emotional and behavioral needs of the student.
Delivers training on school-wide and classroom-wide interventions.
Under the direction of the Principal, in conjunction with the Climate team, assists in developing climate strategies.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or a related field.
Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience supporting students with issues that affect positive behavior and has involved improving student behavior and the school climate.

OR

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or a related field.
One year of full-time, paid, professional experience supporting students with issues that affect positive behavior and has involved improving student behavior and the school climate.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of:

theories and principles of student growth and development.
current social, educational, and economic issues as they relate to urban families.
evidenced-based school climate strategies.

Ability to:

learn the Student Code of Conduct and all District policies and procedures.
organize and execute training and professional development forums.
interact with students, staff and families.
operate a personal computer.
express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
establish and maintain effective working relationships.
