Job Description : Job DescriptionPosition Title: Security Officer I (3 Positions)Date Modified: March 2022FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt12-Month; Non-Instructional(Day Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM Tuesday-Saturday)(Day Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM Sunday-Thursday)(2nd Shift: 2:30PM-10:30PM Tuesday-Saturday)
*Reports to: *Security Supervisor
*Position Purpose: *This position provides the assurance and access to 24/7 monitoring surveillance equipment and patrolling the school’s property to protect the entire campus, students, staff, guest and visitors. Daily foot patrols permit the securing of all vital access points and inspection of all buildings. Operational knowledge of the Identification process to permit parents, visitors and guest entry on campus. A high level of alertness and professionalism is required to ensure safety at all times especially during emergency situations. Provide leadership and guidance while maintaining confidentiality on a daily basis.
*Essential Functions: *

Patrols the campus and surrounding areas via school vehicle, golf cart and/or foot patrol.
Completes and updates Security Patrol Logs daily by recording observations, information, occurrences and surveillance activities.
Inspects I.D.’s at the Main Entrance; Remind staff to wear their I.D.’s and check in all visitors and guests.
Reports security breaches, incidents and other alarming behavior.
Assists with the administrations and the operations of the Security Department, while adhering to the policies and procedures of Overbrook School for the Blind
Monitors and operates CCTV Systems, Mobile Radios, Intercom, Blue Call Boxes and Fire/Burglar Alarms.
Responds to campus emergencies situations and follow the school’s protocol in a professional manner.
Able to work under pressure independently and/or in a group setting.
Provides transportation for students, staff and guests as needed, under the direct instructions of the Security Supervisor.
Maintains a fleet of vehicles by making sure they are clean and have a full tank of gas prior to providing access to staff.
Ensures all equipment is operational and report to the Security Supervisor when equipment malfunctions.
Directs campus traffic, parking, school bus drop-offs and pick-ups.
Assists with snow/debris removal.
Performs other duties as directed by the Security Supervisor.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.
1-3 years of experience with Security, Law Enforcement or Military Background.
Act 235 Certification, preferred.
Maintain a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred).
Must have proficient computer skills plus experience with Closed Circuit TV Systems.
Communication Skills (English) oral and written; Confidence in conveying information to all types of members of the community, including teachers, administrators, other staff members, students and guests.
Must be professional and stay alert at all times.
Works as a team member and handle frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates good judgment and dependability.
Maintain certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Requires prolonged standing, walking, stooping, twisting and squatting on a constant basis.
Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Repetitive motion of the finger, hands and wrist.
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
Work in wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school.
