Job Description : Now Hiring Lifeguards at Sesame Place!

This position works out of Sesame Place San Diego located in Chula Vista.

We have a simple formula for having an amazing, memorable time – just add water! Come make a big splash with us at Sesame Place’s Waterpark! No experience- No worries as on the Job Training is available.

Lifeguard: $15, plus $2 incentive for each hour worked Spring Break 3/26/22 – 4/17/22

Shallow Water Guard: $15, plus $1 incentive for each hour worked Spring Break 3/26/22 – 4/17/22

What you get to do:
Being a Shallow Water Guard or Lifeguard at Sesame Place is a lot more than sitting on a platform and putting zinc oxide on your nose. You’ll roll up your sleeves (if you have sleeves) and play a key role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable guest experience. In addition to monitoring swimming areas and helping guests in distress, you’ll greet and interact with guests, answer questions and resolve guest issues. You will:

Warn guests of dangerous water activities
Prevents and responds to guest emergencies.
Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld Sesame Place by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.

Principle Duties

Ensures excellent customer service by responding to customer requirements, expectations and needs.
Administers First Aid and warns swimmers of dangerous water activities.
Maintains guest surveillance on water attractions. May include slide dispatch.
Participates in scheduled in-service training and regular audits.
Provides excellent service to guests and team members.
Maintains proficiency of park knowledge, lifeguarding skills, water rescue, CPR/AED and First Aid Skills.
Maintains cleanliness of Sesame Place Theme Park.
Assists other locations and areas in the park as needed; Perform and complete other duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills, Knowledge, Education and Training

Must be successful in passing the SEA Lifeguard swim test.
Must be able to pass American Red Cross Certification.
Must have strong written/verbal communication skills.
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must have strong mathematical skills.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Must be able to stand, walk and/or sit for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
Must be able to regularly use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, handle, feel, stoop, crawl or kneel.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
CPR and First Aid certified preferred.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent) preferred.
Maintain cleanliness of your area
Consistently practice safe work habits, including the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

Availability and Hours

During the non-peak season, must have 2 days of unrestricted availability, to include one weekend day.
During the peak season, must have 4 days of unrestricted availability, to include one weekend day.
You must be able to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Hours vary based on business need.

What it takes to succeed:

You will need to successfully complete the Shallow Water swim test, including 100 yd. continuous swim, underwater object retrieval, etc.
You must successfully pass the company provided and paid American Red Cross certification trainings to include CPR and AED.
Exceptional communication, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills are essential
