A Shelter Clinic Supervisor available with the City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department Animal Care & Control Division located at the North Animal Campus. This position will represent the City of Fort Worth by providing professional, courteous, and quality of care for animals in our animal shelter clinic.
The City of Fort Worth has a progressive animal welfare program that enjoys broad based support from elected officials, industry, residents, and animal welfare agencies. At our Silcox Animal Care and Adoption Center, a group of City staff and private business professionals raised over $1 million for a new medical treatment ward that opened in October 2014 to supplement its surgical clinic where approximate 9,000 animals were neutered in 2015. And in April of 2021, the city celebrated the grand opening of its new state of the art North Animal Campus paid for by a $13.5M bond program approved by the residents of Fort Worth in 2018. The new campus is a fully equipped veterinary hospital for shelter pets along with five separate dog wards, each with 10 enrichment yards, a cat ward with windows and volunteer space overlooking the 7.5-acre campus.
The Code Compliance Supervisor job responsibilities include:

Responsible for supervising, and training staff. Monitor staff productivity; standards of performance; and recommend and implement employee discipline.
Prepares and submits reports with analysis; prepares and submits reports for review; and prepares reports for evaluation of programs.
Respond to complaints involving animals; provides information and responds to internal and external customer service requests.
Ensures humane standards of care are followed. All animals are given appropriate vaccines and medical treatment.
Enforces City animal control laws and ordinances in accordance with City policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable State laws. Ordering and tracking drug usage and keeping records in compliance with DEA scheduled drugs.
Scheduling surgery’s and staff to maintain 25 surgery’s daily unless otherwise instructed by Assistant Director or Superintendent.
Overseeing all clinic operations and Veterinary staff on a daily basis to insure all standard operating procedures are maintained.
Insure Medical Treatment wards are organized and clean and all equipment is maintained.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.
Four (4) years of animal related experience.
One (1) year of administrative and supervisory experience.
Valid Texas driver’s license.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an Animal Control Officer Basic Certification through the Texas Department of State Health Services within six (6) months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong Leadership experience.
Knowledgeable of animal control local and State mandates/laws; humane care of animals.
Fieldwork experience.
Well-connected and responsive to community interests relative to animal control and care issues.

This assignment is within the Animal Care and Control division; however, lead assignments may include cross-departmental responsibilities. Will require the ability to work at any of our facilities, including our satellite locations. Designated shifts will include days, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours based on operational needs. The Fort Worth Everyday Adoption Centers are open and staffed seven days per week. Positions are subjected to mandatory extended hours.
