Position : Skating Rink General Manager

Job Description : General Manager Responsibilities: The Rink Manager is responsible for overseeing the year-round roller rink facility to ensure enthusiastic and superior scheduling, operations, safety, fiscal health, and customer satisfaction.
The Rink Manager is required to invest the time necessary to ensure quality rink management. It is essential to be available during standard business hours as well as night and weekend hours of operation to meet with staff, facility users, and vendors, and be present for routine and special events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administration:

Maintains or increases profitability using a combination of sales strategies (e.g., roller rink sales, skate-mate, parties, etc.) and cost control mechanisms (e.g., updated lighting, energy efficiency programs, etc.).
Utilizes specific computer applications including the Microsoft suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook), Quickbooks, online banking platforms, roller rink party scheduling software, the website, the payroll platform, and the point-of-sale system.

Roller rink & Pro-Shop Management:

Staffing for a team of employees with an evolving operations schedule
Roller rink scheduling – working with numerous user groups to coordinate parties, events, and promotions
Work with numerous vendors to ensure the facility has supplies/equipment needed to run efficiently and effectively
Performs staff duties as needed, including collecting admission fees, party payments, and general pro-shop sales
Coordinate crowd control during skate activities and large events
Have thorough knowledge of and provide information regarding fees, programs, schedules, and rental information to customers
Coordinate skating classes, programs, summer camps, and special events
Maintain inventory of pro-shop merchandise and supplies

Facility Appearance/Operations

Ensure excellent quality of roller rink at all times
Provide clean, sanitary, and safe internal and external areas of the facility
Ensure facility meets all local, state, and federal safety and fire codes at all times
Ensure operations equipment are in good working order at all times
Ensure emergencies supplies (e.g., first aid kits, fire extinguishers, etc.) are available and in good working order
Monitor building security, maintenance, and custodial duties throughout the facility

Customer Service

Offers excellent customer service to all guests; develops and maintains strong relationships with skaters and groups; and maintains public relations and guest satisfaction
Create welcoming atmosphere through staff training on a high level of customer service and care of the physical environment
Enforces policies and rules to ensure the safety of all guests; intervening in situations related to public safety as necessary

Facility Staffing:

Evaluates staffing needs (including recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation) and make adjustments in the schedule to ensure the facility operates efficiently
Creates and oversees the work schedule to cover daily operations; utilizing staff productively, especially during slower times
Develops and updates safety policies, implements, and ensures staff is fully trained
Provides staff reviews as needed and maintains open communication with staff to ensure all are up-to-date on the most recent procedures and policies

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education & Experience:
10+ years leading a team
Exceptional customer service
Personnel management, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and training
Creating, marketing, and building new programs
Roller rink experience, including knowledge of rink operations and equipment

Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work independently, strong self-motivation, and effective time management skills
Ability to attract new user groups and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with them
Ability to accommodate and cater to skaters, parties, and guests
Ability to think strategically and develop “out of the box” ideas for increasing sales and controlling costs
Firm understanding of budgeting and financial accounts
Ability to analyze problem situations and develop effective solutions exercising good judgment in keeping with the mission of the skating rink
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
Knowledge and skill in managing people, motivating, and supervising a team of employees; providing strong leadership and direction
Proficiency with a standard roller rink and associated hardware and software
Willingness to perform other duties, work irregular hours, and assume added responsibilities as needed

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift 60 pounds
Requires climbing, reaching, bending, pulling, and lifting. Some work is done on a slippery surface and varying environments including warm and cold temperatures

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $58,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
