Job Description : REPORTS TO: Dr. Pariseau, Asst. Supt. Curriculum & PD WAGE/HOUR STATUS:Exempt PAYGRADE: $55/hr PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Summer School Principal will provide instructional leadership to the summer school program at the assigned summer school host site. The Summer School Principal will supervise the Summer School Coordinator to ensure all programmatic requirements are fulfilled. The incumbent will assume administrative responsibility for the supervision and operation of the summer program. The Summer School Principal will assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board policies and regulations by the school staff and students. The incumbent will maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary and afford due process to the rights of students. The incumbent will assume responsibility for the attendance, progress, conduct and health of students and supervise the maintenance of accurate records for each student in each of these areas. The Summer School Principal will supervise all Summer School teachers. The Summer School Principal must act with integrity, support organizational goals, demonstrate the ability to inspire, grow and motivate others, utilize feedback, drive for results and commit to championing the needs of the students, employees and overall District. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university Principal or Mid-Management Certification required Minimum of three years’ successful experience as a classroom teacher Minimum of three year successful experience as a campus administrator Preferred: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness Ability to manage budget and personnel Ability to coordinate campus functions Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Ability to coordinate professional learning communities Knowledge of crisis management and safety work environment procedures Knowledge of facility maintenance and operations Ability to multi-task MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Supervise all summer staff and direct the summer school programs. Assume responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facilities. Assist in the recruiting, screening, recommending, hiring, assigning, evaluation, supervision and payroll of professional and paraprofessional summer school staff on assigned campus. Supervise all professional (Summer School Coordinators, Summer School Test Coordinators) and paraprofessional personnel assigned to summer school site. Monitor classroom instruction and ensure that the curriculum is being implemented effectively. Attend all mandatory Summer Program trainings such as any required operational and curriculum training in addition to all other mandatory trainings prior to start date of Summer School. Plan for and conduct late registration for summer school. Maintain a high standard of student conduct and enforce discipline as appropriate based on District rules. Assume responsibility for the transportation, attendance, progress, and conduct of summer school students in all programs on site and supervise/ monitor the staff in the maintenance and reporting of accurate records for students. Supervise the preparation of all summer school reports for the central office. Responsible for all information reported to central office and serve as a liaison between the summer school campus and the Summer School Central Office Administrator. Review and ensure supplement pay form calculations are correct and submitted for payment on time. Perform other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
