Job Description : The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as Training Officer 2 with the Office of Professional Development supporting the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) training programs.

Job Duties:

The Training Officer 2 functions as a subject matter expert (SME) for the delivery of hard and soft skills by demonstrating up-to-date expertise in adult learning theory, training best practices, and various delivery methods. This individual delivers and conducts in-person and virtual training for the assigned area; prepares and sets up the learning environment for delivery; establishes an energetic and engaging environment conducive for learning; proactively partners with the design team to seek solutions and enhancements to training courses and content; and evaluates the effectiveness of current training programs, department training support, and recommends improvements, as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of adult learning and training delivery principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
Knowledge of training-related technologies, such as learning management systems and survey instruments.
Knowledge of computers, Gmail and Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of customer service and communication principles.
Knowledge of evaluation, such as Phillips ROI model.
Knowledge of project planning concepts and practices.
Knowledge of collaboration and social media platforms, such as SharePoint.
Knowledge of management and leadership principles.
Skill in interpersonal relations, conflict management, and supervision.
Skill in oral and written communication, such as writing and composition.
Skill in training delivery, organization, and reporting.
Ability to adapt, take initiative, manage time, and make sound decisions.
Ability to set and achieve high work standards.
Ability to coach others.
Ability to make sound decisions, delegate, and work independently.

Selective Preference(s):

Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources Development, Adult Education, Psychology, English, or a similar field.
One year of experience training adult learners as a full-time trainer responsible for instruction and group/team facilitation.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan, and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
