This posting is for FUTURE Transit Police Officer openings in our Transit Police Department. When a position becomes available, candidates will be selected from this list of applicants.

OVERALL DESCRIPTION

Ensures the safety of the Transit Authority’s passengers, personnel and property, and enforces local, state and federal laws on and around the transit system.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILTIES
Enforces rules or regulations.
Interviews witnesses to obtain information about incidents.
Prepares investigation or incident reports.
Patrols properties to maintain safety.
Maintains surveillance of individuals or establishments, records information about suspicious objects.
Apprehends criminal suspects.
Collaborates with other law enforcement while responding to incidents.
Investigates illegal or suspicious activities.
Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED,
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must pass the Pennsylvania State (MPOETC) physical fitness requirements (which includes passage of the 1.5 mile run, 300 meter run, sit up and push up standard). Candidates passing the physical performance requirements will be invited to complete a reading test, before proceeding onto the background checks.
Must undergo an extensive criminal background investigation, as well as psychological and polygraph examinations.
Must pass a thorough medical examination, including a substance abuse screening.
