Position : Transport Dispatcher

Job Description : Frontier Transport Bulk Dispatch
Position Purpose: To effectively manage and dispatch a fleet of drivers for bulk distribution operations, with continuous focus on customer service and satisfaction, as well as equipment and personnel productivity within a safe and compliant operation. This position will also require good interpersonal skills to work in a team environment as well as with other terminal locations.
Reports to: Operations Manager
General duties and Responsibilities:

Manage daily dispatch operations of Bulk Transportation Fleet
Develop and maintain relationships with drivers and focus on superior customer service at all times
Maintain high level of productivity on equipment and personnel
Ensure driver compliance with company procedures and policies
Promote safety in operations
Provide accurate detailed information to drivers on load instructions
Manage exceptions – last minute changes, emergency loads, etc.
Develop higher degree of use for PeopleNet communications including use of macros to reduce unnecessary telephone interchange between dispatch and drivers
Maintain dispatch status updates for all moves
Ensure accurate entry of driver and equipment on each load
Document any issues that may lead to disciplinary actions and make recommendation of those actions
Provide performance reviews for drivers and document accordingly
Route driver into terminal when necessary
Monitor backhaul availability and secure loads when possible
Track equipment and ensure it is at terminal when not in use
Develop relationship with other terminal personnel to work together on the “whole picture”
Other duties as may be assigned

Mission Critical Outcomes

Maintain accurate and timely dispatch information at all times in system
Reduce driver NCR’s due to procedural non-compliance
Maintain zero contamination level due to dispatch error
Eliminate all unnecessary out of route miles
Get all equipment in for PM’s as scheduled
Be adaptive to change to best answer the customer’s needs
Identify any reasons or causes of low productivity for personnel or equipment
Be able to solve operational issues or problems with defined solutions

Break Through Outcomes

Attains Tractor productivity of $16,000 per month minimum average for bulk fleet
Gets all directions into system for shipping and delivery locations for drivers to access
Gets 100% usage from PeopleNet system for dispatch communications operations
Identify possible problems and offer solutions to eliminate issues before they occur
Identify cost savings opportunities in operations
Achieve Bulk Fleet empty miles % of less than 46% of total miles
